I’ve learned the hard way that babies move QUICKLY and get into literally everything. It can be a bit overwhelming when your little one starts crawling.. trying to figure out what you actually need to baby proof. However I’ve learned you don’t need to baby proof every single inch of your house. 😅 Because seriously there actually things to baby proof for EVERYTHING!

1. Baby Gate

Baby gates are a lifesaver for keeping your little one safe while giving you some peace of mind. Baby gates are a must-have item for stairs. This is one of the first things we did when we had our first baby.

Adding a baby gate to the top AND bottom of your stairs to help prevent falling.

2. Outlet Covers

Electric outlets can be one of the biggest hazards for crawling babies and toddlers. Little hands are curious and love to explore every nook and cranny, including the electrical outlets.

Outlet covers are an easy and cheap(!!) way to keep your baby safe. Definitely a must have!

3. Anchor Heavy Furniture

When babies start crawling and pulling themselves up, it’s not just about baby-proofing the floor. Furniture can be a hidden danger too, especially pieces that could tip over if your baby grabs or pulls on them. Try to think of certain furniture around your house that need anchors.

These anchors are great heavy duty straps to hold down your furniture.

4. Lock Up Medicine and Cleaning Supply Cabinet

All cabinets are not a must to add locks to. (however can be helpful!) But please please make sure you lock up your medicine and cleaning supply cabinet. Adding cabinet locks too these are crucial!

Cabinet locks are all over amazon- these cabinet locks are the ones I have. 

5. Pool Fence

If you have a pool- adding a pool fence is something I would do right away! You can also add door locks to for extra caution.

You can hire someone to put a pool fence in, or grab a pool fence on amazon and install yourself. Definitely a must!

6. Kitchen Locks

Adding stove locks and oven locks didn’t seem necessary to me until my babe started trying to turn on the stove one day. Adding locks ensures your child will be safe from so many scary things that could happen with the stove or oven.

Adding stove locks and oven locks can help your LO be safe in the kitchen!
